Blue Onion Teapot Warmer

This is a nice tea pot warmer made by Meissen in the mid 19th century. Originally for one of those alrger globular tea pots someone added a circular metal piece with holes punched into it to the piece and now it could be used for any number of pieces like a coffee pot or even to keep food warm. It's a great idea I think! The piece is superbly modeled with nicely shaped openings - one larger one to the front to access it easily and two smaller ones to the back. A handle to either side. The piece is superbly decorated with the famous under glaze blue onion design which looks stunning! The piece is in superb condition with a small flat chip to the bottom edge of one of the smaller openings as shown. Really hard to spot and does not affect the piece when on display. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark, a blue painter's number and the usual impressed / incised marks one finds on Meissen pieces from this period. The piece is just over 4.25 inches tall with a bottom diameter of 6.25 inches. The opening in the top has a diameter of about 4.375 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
