Cobalt Blue & Watteau Scene Box

This is a superb little littled box made by Meissen in the later 19th century. It is hand painted with a superb Watteau style scene on the lid surrounded by their nice deep cobalt blue color and some fancy gold trim. The painting is of superb quality! The bottom part has the same deep cobalt blue ground color and fancy gilding over that. An amazing piece for sure! They have an unusual shape to them as well not the typical domed lid and simble bottom but with a bit of an indent to the sides and a touch larger as well. Gold design to the bottom inside. The lidded dish is in perfect condition. The bottom part is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark (first quality) underneath as well as some incised numbers as shown. The box is 2.25 inches tall and 3.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
