Red Tiger / Lion Sugar Dish

This is a porcelain sugar dish with its lid made by Meissen in about 1934. It came with another dish that still had the Pfieffer period mark so I figured it must have been made right around the end of that period. It is hand painted with the hard to find red Tiger / Lion ( Roter Löwe ) design with the tiger on one side and a nice bird to the other side. The Kakiemon designs and colors are some of the most beautiful ones on porcelain I think! There are some Kakiemon style flowers as well and the lid has more flowers to it, a superb flower finial with its leaves and both pieces have a bit of gold trim. The main dish is in superb condition but the lid has a bit of chipping to the finial petals. Colored over to hide them very well! They display perfectly! The sugar dish with the lid in place is 3.25 inches tall and just over 3.25 inches in diameter! It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark (first choice) as well as the usual impressed numbers, etc. as shown. I also have the creamer up on the site if anyone is interested in both. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $249
