Amazing Scenic Tabatiere

This is a rare treat - a tea caddy / jar made by Meissen around 1750. A much nicer version than most one sees even from Meissen! It has a nice shape to it with a hand painted top notch Watteau style scene to the front and back surrounded by a very fancy black and gold trim with lots of small flowers next to it and more flowers along each side, another fancy gold trim to the shoulder area and tiny flowers along the top (one of which hides a minor firing flaw). The lid has two small scenes to it and a floral finial. Simple gold trim to the bottom edges. The quality of the painting is superb! And the best part is that the piece is in perfect condition which is not something you see very often from this period. No problems at all except for a few tiny firing flaws normal on these early pieces. The teacaddy is not marked which is the normal on the unglazed undersides. They just kind of burned away during the firing process. The quality is an easy way to identify it as a Meissen piece. The jar is about 5 inches tall including the lid, 3.25 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1749
