Angel Scene Plaque

This is an oval shaped plaque or pendant made by Meissen in the late 19th or early 20th century. It is hand painted with two angels chilling on some clouds after a piece of a painting by the famous Raphael Sanzio called The Sistine Madonna. In that painting these little guys are on the bottom edge. A common theme to have been put on porcelain back then but the ones by Meissen are quite rare. The plaque is superbly hand painted and framed in a little bronze or brass frame with a nice design to it. The back top of the frame has a little loop to it so one can hang it or wear it as a pendant though it's pretty large for that. The piece is in perfect condition in terms of the porcelain and the frame as well with some oxidation from age which is normal. One could polish it but I think it's better left the way it is. The piece is marked underneath with the blue swords mark as well as an impressed model number V 100. The entire piece is just a touch over 2.75 inches wide and 2.25 inches tall. About a quarter inch thick. The plaque itself is about 2.5 inches by just under 2 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $449
