Polychrome Floral Tankard

This is a fun tankard / mug / large cup made by Meissen in the late 18th or early 19th century. It is hand painted with a superb floral arrangement to the front with lots of flowers in it and the sides are nicely filled with floral garlands. Typical handle shape for them which helps identify the maker because the bottom terminal has not changed over the years and I am showing a gilded version of one of my modern tankards I use daily for comparison. Plus the quality of the flowers helps ID it as a Meissen piece as well. Time period is harder as the bottom is unglazed which was common in the 18th century until into the early 19th century. The style of flowers I think are either Marcolini period or Schmierzeit. Impossible to say but not later than early 19th century! The porcelain is thickly potted and there are some small firing flaws to the paste in the shape of inclusions in the paste on the bottom inside and a few tiny ones along the top edge which points to an earlier piece rather than 19th century. The piece is in superb condition no chips, wear, etc. The underside is unmarked likely because it has worn off from years of use or during the firing process since it is unglazed. Not unusual. The tankard is 5 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $699
