Art Nouveau Mountain Scene Plate

This is a rare Art Nouveau / Jugendstil porcelain plate made by Meissen around 1900. Meissen missed the train a bit in terms of Art Nouveau / Jugendstil and thus their pieces are much harder to find than those of other makers of this period. What they did make were some superb pieces and this is a great example of it. The plate is hand painted with the superb scene covering the entire center which includes a barn with a fanced in area to the side with some hay in it in a landscape surrounding including some mountains in the back. It reminds me very much of the Swiss Alps from a trip I made as a kid. The rim being simple and left in the white which makes this a super elegant plate! An amazing plate! This piece is in perfect condition. It is 1 inch tall and 10.625 inches in diameter so rather large. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords as well as the usual impressed marks as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
