French Bulldog Figurine

This is a superb figurine of a dog made by Meissen during the mid 20th century. I have seen this described both as a Boston terrier pup and a French Bulldog pup and since I suck at dogs I don't which one is true. Either way he is modelled superbly and hand painted to perfection with the rare under glaze colors Meissen used occasionally on these types of figures. A really nice version of this model. The coloration of the face looks amazing! Nice green collar to give it a little extra detail. The figure was first modeled by Erich Hösel in 1911 I believe. The figurine is in perfect condition which is always nice! It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as well as the usual impressed / incised marks and a faint red number 4 as the painter's mark as shown. The piece is just under 6 inches tall, 2.625 inches wide and 5 inches long. A really superb dog figurine - one of the ncest I have seen in a while. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
