Blue Dragon Demitasse Single Cup

This is a mocha or espresso coffee demitasse cup made by Meissen in the later 19th or early 20th century. The piece is decorated with the blue dragon design called the Hofdrachen in Germany. It comes in a variety of colors with the blue symbolizing power and strength . The cup is hand painted with two blue and gold dragons as well as a fancy blue design. The nciesly shaped handle has a bit of gold trim as does the nicely shaped top edge. The blue color on this pieces is fairly light with some nice dark spots throughout plus the gold highlights. This size cup is not easy to find and I like them better than regular sized pieces since they take up less room in the cabinets. Just wish I had the saucer! The piece is in perfect condition which never hurts either :) It is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath (first quality) as well as the usual impressed marks one expects from pieces of this period as shown. The cup is just under 2 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $99
