Blue Onion Butter Dish

This is rare butter dish made by Meissen in the 20th century. Not something you come across often at all it comes in two pieces - the bottom part is a plate with a ring in the center over which the top part, the lid, fits. The set is nicely decorated with their famous Blue Onion design in under glaze blue - a very old and famous design that still has a ton of collectors in today's world. The rim of the plate as well as the entire lid have a line design to the paste and the lid has a nice upside down double horns of plenty finial that is really superb. Both pieces are in perfect condition. The dish with its lid in place about 3 inches tall and 7.375 inches in diameter. The lid has a diameter of 4.75 inches. The lid is marked in the bottom end of the stalk of the "onion" and the plate on the underside with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as well as the usual impressed numbers, etc. as shown.
