Blue Onion Rice Bowl

This is a very hard to find piece of blue onion - a rice bowl with its lid made by Meissen in the 20th century. Both pieces are decorated with their famous Zwiebelmuster design in under glaze blue. The mortar all around the outside with a bit of a blue trim to the inside rim and brass mounts to the ends of the handles. The pestle is decorated all around as well as the top. Really a nice looking set and one the kitchen or pharmaceutical / chemist blue onion collector won't find again anytime soon. Both pieces are marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark, the mortar on the underside as well as in the "onion" stalk and the pestle on top as well as in the "onion" stalk. The mortar also has the usual impressed marks one finds on Meissen of this period as shown. The mortar is just over 3.5 inches tall with a top diameter of 4.625 inches. The handles stick out about an inch from there. The pestle is 5.5 inches long and 1.625 inches in diameter at the widest part. Both are in perfect condition.
