Blue Onion Tureen

This is a tureen / terrine made by Meissen in the mid to later 19th century before they added the crossed swords to the bottom of the stalk of the "onion". The tureen is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords with two cuts across it denoting it to be a second choice piece. The piece is of a great size - not gigantic nor tiny so perfect for use for your meals. It is decorated with their famous blue onion design all around with a nice finial to the top of the lid and handles to either side of the bottom piece. The lidded dish is in good condition with a large brown spot from the firing process to the top of the lid as shown, a small chip to the edge of the lid and a small and larger chip to the edge of the bottom piece right next to each other. These were ground down a bit to hide them better and the set displays nicely and is ready for everyday use. The lidded piece including the finial is 7.25 inches tall, 10.5 inches long and 7 inches in wide. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $299
