Blue Onion Tea Light Burner

This is a fun piece of porcelain made by Meissen in the early to mid 19th century. It is a lidded tea light holder for your teapot warmer or veilleuse - basically the equivalent of a modern tealight candle. It comes with the hold in the center of the lid and even still has its original burner and wick which is extra neat. The porcelain is decorated with one of their under glaze blue onion design all around the outside of the main body, blue trim to the handle which has a bit of a relief design to it and blue flowers and trim to the lid. The main body of the tealight is marked underneath with the blue crossed swords mark as well as the usual impressed / incised numbers as shown. First quality. The mark is a bit faint since it is unglazed but that is normal. The dish of the tea light holder are in perfect condition but the lid has a hairline crack going from the central hole to the edge. Still a really nice and early example! The piece is about 1.5 inches tall with a diameter of 2.25 inches. The handle sticks out about 1.25 inches to one side.
