Blue Onion Sugar Caster

This is a superb sugar shaker / caster / muffineer made by Meissen in the late 19th or early 20th century. It is the larger size and is decorated with their famous blue onion design and has an amazing reticulated and molded top meant to look like an artichoke for the sugar to pour out of and a little finial at the very tip. A really nice looking piece and hard to find as well. This piece does have a very decorative shape. It is in perfect condition. The cork in the bottom is definitely a replacement but that does not matter at all. The pot is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords underneath as well as a blue painter's mark as shown. First choice though I am not sure who was sleeping at the quality control desk that day. There is a little bump to the paste in the top trim and a tiny firing surface crack as shown. They should have made it second quality with their rigid way of doing things but obviously things happened. Finally proof that even they are not perfect :) The piece is 7.25 inches tall and 3.125 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
