Boy Feeding Geese Figurine

This is a superb figurine made by Meissen in the late 19th century. It is of a young man feeding his geese. He is nicely dressed and has a basket udner his left arm full of greens he is giving to his birds. The adult and baby geese are by his feet with the adults seeming interested in his greens but the babies are eating out of a bowl in front of them. Another bowl is to the side of them. Nice scroll work to the base highlighted with gilding. A very well modeled and painted piece! The figurine displays perfectly but has a few nibbles to the greenery in his hand and one leaf in his basket. Nothing that takes away from the piece at all! It is marked underneath with the crossed swords as well as the usual incised and impressed numbers and a black painter's number 13. The figure is 4.75 inches tall and the base has a diameter of about 2.75 inches. Please email me for more information or photos.
