Brown Ground Cup & Saucer #2

This is a rare cup and saucer made by Meissen in the mid 18th century around 1740. Both the cup and saucer have a handpainted underglaze blue design related to the strawflower design with an addition of a scene in the center including buildings and plants. They both have the ribbed design to the paste that looks really nice plus the bonus of the brown color on the outside / underside one rarely sees. All in all a superb set! The cup and saucer are in good condition with some glaze missed on the saucer that are not unusual on the very early pieces and a chip to the top rim of the cup mostly to the inside as shown. The saucer is 1.25 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. The cup is 1.875 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. Both pieces are marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark with the one on the cup looking very early and the one on the saucer almost 19th century (which it is not) Both also ahve the blue painter's mark which one only sees on the early pieces. Also blue painters mark to the footring and hard to see incised marks. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $749
