Centaur & Nymph Scenic Plaque

This is an amazing round scenic plaque made by Meissen in the late 19th century. It is a true plaque with the sides glazed and not the center of a plate that was cut out or something like that. Quite rare to see plaques by them! It is hand painted with a top quality scene in the center of a centaur and a nymph (code for nude lady). The centaur is carrying the nymph into the water away from possibly cupid trying to shoot an arrow in the background. Nice landscape including trees and mountains. The scene is surrounded by a fancy black and gold trim that makes this a very elegant and stunning piece to look at. Probably made as an insert into a piece of furniture since there is still a white ring around the edge that would have been covered by the frame. The plaque is in perfect condition - it needs a new frame but that is easy enough and should be done by the buyer in their taste. The plaque is 4.75 inches in diameter. It is marked with the blue crossed swords mark (first choice). A rare find and a must have for the collector! I also have a matching second plaque if anyone is interested in a pair. Please email me for more information or photos.
