Champagne Bottle Coaster

This is a dish made by Meissen in the 19th century. I usually see it referred to as being a coaster for the magnum sized champagne bottles but it could be used for a number of things like a coffee pot undertray, a food bowl for a small pet, etc. The dish is hand painted with a large floral arrangement in the center as well as three bugs and three flowers along the inside edge and three more insects and flowers along the outside edge. Gold highlights to all decorations and a gold trim to the edge. The dish is just over 1 inch tall and has a diameter of 6.25 inches. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as well as a blue painter's mark and the usual impressed and incised marks one always finds on Meissen of this period. The piece is in great condition with just a touch of wear to the gold trim along the edge. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $249
