Unusual Shaped Cobalt Blue & Floral Saucer

This is a nice saucer made by Meissen in the 19th century. A rare shape that would ahve come with a quatrefoil cup with an 18th century style handle to it. Alas that is missing here so it's jsut a lone saucer. It is hand painted with two cartouches of polychrome flowers on white ground surrounded by some fancy gilding. The rest of the dish is a deep cobalt blue with lots of fancy gold trim along the rim. The piece is in perfect condition. It is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark (first quality) underneath as well as the usual incised marks, two blue dots along the edge and a painter's number 4. The underplate is 1.125 inches tall, 5.5 inches wide and 5.125 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $399
