Cobalt Blue & Scenic Candlestick

This is a superb candlestick made by Meissen in the late 19th century. This one here is exceptionally nice having the highly sought after cobalt blue ground with some fancy gilding to it, a nice hand painted floral arrangement to one side surrounded by more nice gilding and the best part is a little hand painted scene to the other side of the fortress Koenigstein, a hilltop fortress near the city of Dresden. A truly superb and elegant piece! The candleholder is in great condition with a tiny flat chip to the bottom edged that was gilded in to hide it very well. It is on the side when you look at the scene or the flowers so that makes it really not much of an issue at all when on display and is hard to spot. The stick is jsut under 5.5 inches tall with the bottom sides being 2.25 inches long. The piece is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as shown as well as the usual incised / impressed marks as shown and the name of the scene in black - Königstein . Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
