Goldfinch on Thistle Figurine

This is a great figurine of a bird made by Meissen in the mid 20th century. It is a goldfinch sitting on a thistle and pecking at the blossom. This piece is not easy to find and really one of their nicer bird figured in this size. It was first modeled by the famous Erich Oehme in the early 20thc entury. A very well modeled and superbly painted figure which is more colorful than many of the other birds they made in this style. The figure is in perfect condition. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as well as the usual impressed numbers from the period as shown. Also impressed on the back base under the thistle leaf is the artist name and year it was modeled which I think is 1913 - hard to see! The figurine is 4.5 inches tall, 2.5 inches wide and 4.75 inches long. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
