Black Tulip Cup & Saucer

This is a superb early cup and saucer set made by Meissen in about 1740. The cup is nicely painted with a woodcut style black and red tulip flower as well as another flower, some almonds on the saucer as well as some small flowers on the cup. The inside of the cup has a really nice orange flower as well as a tiny blue flower and a leaf. I really love the black and red tulip and I do not recall having seen one like it before. Wouldn't mind a few of those in my garden :) The edges of the two pieces have a gold trim and the handle a bit of a gold design to it. The set is marked with an early version of the blue crossed swords underneath as well as a puce painters mark on the saucer footring as shown. The set is in perfect condition with a bit of wear to the gold trim of the edge mainly to the cup. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter and the cup is 1.875 inches tall with a diameter of 3 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
