Early Strawflower Cup & Saucer #1

This is an early cup and saucer made by Meissen in about 1735 still after the Chinese design which later turned into the Strawflower design. The set is handpainted in underglaze blue with flowers and a nice rim design but my favorite part is that the outside has a ribbed relief design which is colored in the cafe-au-lait (milk coffee) hue. The set is in great condition with a tight crack arcoss the bottom end of the handle. Impossible to see unless you really look hard for it. The cup is 1.875 inches tall and just under 3 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. They are both marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark as well as a star underneath but these are not from the later Marcolini period but from the earlier use of this mark during this period! The cup has an impressed D which might be a formers mark and the saucer has a V. No numbers yet as these were started a bit later. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $849
