Loewenfink Fabeltier Saucer

This is an amazing and early Meisen saucer made around 1740. It is after a super famous design by Adam Friedrich von Löwenfinck known as Fabeltier (mystery animal) motif. The animal here is nicely painted in a landscape surrounding in the Kakiemon colors including some flowers and rocks with birds flying overhead, a bug below and a small flower near the rim. A really fun design and extremely ahrd to find! The saucer is about 1 inch tall and 4.75 inches in diameter! It is marked underneath with the Meissen blue crossed swords in underglaze blue with a number 2 impressed onto the foot ring. The piece is in great condition with a small chip to the foot ring and some minor wear as shown. The Kakiemon colors of these early pieces are just amazing!
