Reticulated Cobalt Scenic Plate

This is a really superb plate made by Meissen in the late 19th century. It is hand painted with a detailed scene in the center of a couple in a landscape surrounding including a column in the background with the gentleman playing a flute and the lady holding a fan. The scene is of top notch quality in the Watteau style. The rest of the well has that superb deep cobalt blue we all love, there is some superb gilding around the scene and at the edge of the well with an amazing reticulated trim highlighted with gilding and little applied blue & gold flowers finishing off a perfect piece! This is one of the best plates one can own from this period! It even has some fancy gilding underneath as shown in the pictures which Meissen only did on their best pieces. The plate is in perfect condition. The plate is marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as well as the usual impressed numbers one finds on Meissen of this period. It is 1.5 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter so nice and large - perfect for display! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
