Rock & Bird Pattern Trembleuse Lidded Cup & Saucer #2

This is a fun lidded hot chocolate cup with its trembleuse saucer made by Meissen in the mid 19th century. One does not see these very often at all. The cup has the really early 18th century style handles to either side and was meant for hot chocolate with the saucer having that extra superb fancy rim around the well for people whose hands were shaking so that the chance of spilling things was limited! A lid to make it a complete set! Nice blue design to the rim and a floral finial with its stem (partially) and two leaves. Some gold trim to the edge and the finial. Very rare to find this style saucer and still have the lid as well. Both the cup and the saucer are hand painted all around with the Rock & bird pattern (Fels & Vogel) in a deep blue under glaze color. The gold trim to the eges and handles make it super elegant! The trembleuse ring is extra large and fancy here with a molded and reticulated design to it. A great example! The cup is in perfect condition, the saucer looks great but has an odd fault to the trembleuse part where it meets the saucer as shown. Some sort of fault of crack that has stained. Due to it location it is fine on display. The lid has some very minor nibbles to its flower petal finial and the gold stem is partially missing which is an easy fix if need be! Some very very minor wear to the gilding. Still a very nice example! A rare design to find in this shape! The cup & saucer are each marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords as well as a blue painter's number as shown. Some impressed numbers under the cup as well. The cup is 3 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter with the handles sticking out about 0.625 inches. The saucer is 1.25 inches tall at the rim with a diameter of 5.5 inches. The lid is 2.875 inches in diameter and adds about 1.25 inches in height to the set including the finial. The center trembleuse part sticks up about another 0.375 inches over the rim.
