Ferner Cup & Saucer

This is a nice early cup & saucer made by Meissen in the mid 18th century and over decorated a bit later by the famous shop of FJ Ferner. The set was hand painted by Meissen with the under glaze blue Fels und Vogel Design first and then the gilding and red, green and yellow enamel colors were added by the Hausmaler of the shop of F.J. Ferner who was a Thuringian artist and is quite famous! He liked to do this with this particular pattern from Meissen. This is really a superb example of his work with a nice touch of a dog on the saucer and gentleman on the cup which I like a lot. It's nice to see something besides just flowers by him. There are also the typical orange, yellow and green flowers and fancy gilding and some buildings to the inside of the cup as shown. The set is in great condition with a bit of wear mostly to the one flower in the center of the saucer and the gilding but that is pretty minor as well - a very nice example. The cup does ahve a tight like to the edge but I cannot see it from the inside and it still rings perfectly so I believe it is just in the glaze. I cannot feel it either so it's very tight and stable! The cup is 1.875 inches tall with a diameter of 3.125 inches while the saucer is 1.125 inches tall with a diameter of 5 inches. The pieces are marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath with a dot between the bottom and an impressed number. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
