1740's Floral & Bugs Coffee Pot

This is a very early and superb coffee pot made by Meissen in about 1740-1745. The shape is superb and the decoration is top as well (some of the nicest I have seen!). The colors are a bit stronger than in the pictures in real life for some reason. There is a large floral arrangement handpainted on either side and then there are lots of bugs scattered throughout as well. From little lady bugs to the gorgeous large butterfly in the front. Nice brown trim on the spout and lid rim. The lid also has a floral arrangement as well as some bugs and a flower finial. The flowers on this piece are much more natural looking and much more detailed than later ones. The pot is in superb condition with just a little damage to the finial of the lid - some chipping on the petals and the stalk is gone with a chip to the leaf. A couple of small chips meaningless chips to the underside rim of the lid. The pot and lid are about 9 inches tall, 4.5 inches from front to back without the handle and 4.25 inches wide. It is marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark. This is the coffee pot to the rest of the set I have up on the site. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $3499
