Polychrome Flowers Match Striker

This is a rare match striker / matchbox holder made by Meissen in the late 19th century or early 20th century so right around 1900. It is hand painted with three floral arrangements as well as a gold bug, a butterfly and a gold trim. The matchbox outside would sit on top of the center block of the pedestal and it also could be used to strike the matches. The dish is in great condition with a little wear to the gilding on the rim and the bug's antennae. It is marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as well as the usual incised and impressed marks. The striker underplate is 0.75 inches tall and 4.875 inches in diameter with the center piece sticking up about 1.5 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $249
