Letter Seal

This is a rare seal made by Meissen in the 19th century. This would have been used to apply your mark to the wax that sealed your letters! The handle is made of porcelain that is handpainted with two nice large floral arrangements as well as another floral arrangement to the top. Nice gold trim to the bottom where the actual metal seal attaches. The metal has an engraved design of a lion holding a ball on it. Not sure for whom this was made but very likely someone very important. A very heavy piece and not something you come across often if ever. It is in perfect condition which is nice. The piece is not marked or should be say not visibly marked but there is no doubt that is was made by Meissen! The handle is 3.125 inches long and 1.125 inches in diameter. The entire piece is 4.125 inches long and the metal bottom has a diameter of just under 1 inch. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $699
