Blue Ground Rose Floral Tankard

This is a fun tankard / mug / cup made by Meissen in the mid 19th century. It is decorated with their famous deep cobalt blue ground color all around with a white ground area to the front that has a superbly hand painted rose floral arrangement to it surrounded by a fancy gold trim. Golding to the top and bottom edge as well as the white handle. Obviously meant to have a lid which was either never added or more likley was damaged and removed. I will try to have one made when I have more time. Otherwise the peice is in superb condition! No chips nor wear which is amazing! The underside is marked with the blue crossed swords mark (first choice) as shown and possibly a painter's mark 5. in green though I might jsut be imagining that. The tankard is 5.875 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
