Franz Ferdinand Mayer Cup

This is an early cup made by Meissen around 1750 and decorated by the famous Franz Ferdinand Mayer in Pressnitz , Bohemia . He was active from about 1745 until 1776 and his items are rare and highly collectable. The cup has the relief prunus blossom decoration in relief to the outside highlighted with gilding, has a nice handle shape with a bit more gold trim and a gold trim to the top. The inside bottom has a really nice blue flower to it with a red center and its green leaves. The flower is outlined in red which is a typical way he did these types of flowers. Really nice looking. Just a bummer I don't have the saucer! This is a nice example of his work in the typical colors and style. The cup is in great condition with just two firing spots to the inside from when it was made. Abit out of the round shape it should be - more oval but this is also from when it was made. People often bought pieces from Meissen that were not quite perfect fro the Hausmaler to then paint for them. The cup is 1.875 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. The piece is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as shown from about 1745-50 and an impressed number 2. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $349
