Fruit / Flower Cane / Umbrella Handle

This is a dress cane handle or more likely an umbrella handle made by Meissen in the 19th century. The porcelain part has a classic Baroque shape to it and is superbly hand painted with three large fruit, vegetable and flower scenes along the sides and another one to the top as well as some nice raised designs between the scenes that are highlighted with lots of gilding. A really nice piece. It is attached to a nice piece of wood with a gold colored metal collar I suspect is actually real gold but is unmarked. The original wooden piece is about 7.25 inches and it was iether cut there or it was originally like that and now someone has attached a piece of cane to it to make it into a cane. It is rather long and even for me is a bit too long and I am pretty tall. So it would suit someone 6'5" tall or taller quite well. The porcelain part is of superb quality as one would expect from Meissen and in perfect condition with some very minor wear. There is no mark showing as it would be on the inside. The handle is 3 inches long with a top diameter of 1.625 inches. The top cane part is about 0.75 inches in diameter. The entire piece is 42.25 inches long.
