Floral & Insects Plate

This is another great plate made by Meissen in the mid to late 19th century. It is hand painted with a really nice fruit scene in the center including a red fruit which looks like a tomatoe with leaves and a stem that look like they are from an apple tree. Might be an unknown fruit to me or just an imaginative painter. There is a slight shade under the fruit and leaves which make the scene pop a little more than usual and that is very unusual to see on 19th century pieces! There are three bugs around the fruit scene in the well as well as three more to the rim. The rim has a nice shape to it and a basket weave design to the paste with gold trim to the edge. The plate is in greatt condition with some minor use marks and a bit of stacking wear mainly to the white area around the well edge except for the center butt area of one of the butterflies. It is not bovious at all since it is perfectly placed and symmetrical. The piece is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as well as the usual impressed and incised numbers. It is 1.375 inches tall and 9.125 inches in diameter. A really nice plate! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $399
