Floral Leuteritz Snake Handle Vase

This is a really nice amphora shaped vase made by Meissen in the 20th century. A very popular design with the snake handles on either side! It was first designed by Ernst August Leuteritz in 1861 and is still very popular today. It is hard to find them in perfect condition, first choice and with the full gilding which looks amazing! The vase has a large hand painted polychrome floral arrangement on white ground in the front as well as the back, the foot and bottom of the main body have this superb gilding to it which is half shiny and half matte - a combo that looks amazing. Same type of gilding to the top and just under the snake heads. Each snake has a relief scale design to the body partially highlighted with gilding and the heads have gold facial details to it. The piece comes in two pieces that are connected with a screw system which is normal. The base is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as shown and the usual impressed numbers and marks also shown. The vase is is 10.625 inches tall, 6.5 inches from handle to handle and 5 inches in diameter in the center. In perfect condition but there is one tiny firing spot between the snake heads on one side as shown. Made that way and still deemed a first choice so obviously not a big deal.
