Fun Zarf for Fincan Cup

This is a rare zarf (a type of Turkish cup holder) made by Meissen in the 19th century . A zarf is a cup holder that is placed around a cup to protect the holder's fingers from the heat of the drink. Zarfs are often used for cups without handles. Could be a small porcelain Koeppchen or a metal (possibly silver or even gold in this case) fincan cup. The piece has a nice shape to it with three higher sections that di lower in between. The nicely shaped edge has a gold trim to it and the outside of the higher section has a relief floral design hand painted in polychrome colors. A hand painted bug to the lower sections and a gold trim to the foot. Really a nice looking piece! It is in superb condition - just waiting for a new inside cup. The piece is marked underneath with the under glaze crossed swords mark (first choice) as well as a painter's number in red as shown. It is 1.625 inches tall and has a top diameter of about 1.825 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $199
