Yellow Tiger Demitasse Cup & Saucer #1

This is a mocha or espresso coffee demitasse cup and saucer made by Meissen in the 20th century. Both pieces are decorated with the famous yellow Tiger ( Gelber Löwe ) design that is so superb that it was also used for the Saxon Royal Court! Both pieces have the yellow tiger hand painted on one part and the funky colorful tree on the other part with some Kakiemon flowers in between. It is one of the nicest Kakiemon patterns there is I think. There is a light brown trim just under the nicely shaped edge and an extra flower to the bottom inside of the cup - a sure sign of quality! The handle of the cup is superb as well. This size cup is not easy to find and I like them better than regular sized pieces since they take up less room in the cabinets plus this design is just amazing! The set is in perfect condition which never hurts either :) One tiny black firing spot along the very edge of the saucer from when it was made. It is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath (first quality) as well as the usual impressed and painted marks one expects from pieces of this period as shown. The cup is 2 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter. The saucer is about 0.875 inches tall and has a diameter of 4.25 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $349
