Gentleman Feeding Geese Figure

This is a superb figurine made by Meissen in the late 19th century. It is of a young gentleman feeding his geese. He is nicely dressed and has a basket filled with greens under his left arm he is feeding to his birds. The adult and baby geese are by his feet with the adults seeming interested in his greens but the babies are eating out of a bowl in front of them. Another bowl is to the side of them. Nice scroll work to the base highlighted with gilding. A very well modeled and painted piece! The figurine is in great condition with some minor nibbles to the leaves in his hand and an unimportant chip to the base edge - mostly to the underside. Nothing that takes away from the piece at all and it displays perfectly! It is marked underneath with the crossed swords as well as the usual incised model number as well as an impressed number and a red painter's number 9. The figure is 4.75 inches tall and the base has a diameter of about 2.75 inches. I also own the matching lady figurine if anyone is interested in a pair.
