Green Dragon Letter Opener

This is a letter opener with a porcelain handle made by Meissen in the mid 20th century or maybe a bit earlier. The handle is hand painted with the green Ming Dragon design that includes the superb dragon on one side and a red and green design to the other side. In Chinese culture the green dragon is one of the animals of the four directions, representing the power of the East and also symbolizing health, peace, and eternity. The blade part is silver in color and the ferrule is looks more of a bronze color. The piece is in great condition with the blade being a tiny bit oxidized. Possibly silver plated? The porcelain part is marked on the end near the ferrule with the under glaze blue swords. The entire letter opener is 7.875 inches long with the handle part being about 2.875 inches long and 0.625 inches in diameter. A really nice and hard to find piece that would come in handy on your desk :) Please email me for more information or other pictures.
