Pre 1740 Hausmaler Plate

This is an early and very special plate made by Meissen before 1740 and decorated around 1745. Besides being a nice early porcelain plate what makes it even more special is that it was decorated by the famous Hausmaler Franz Ferdinand Mayer workshop in Pressnitz , Bohemia . He was active from about 1745 until 1776 and his items are rare and highly collectable. His style of decoration is very distinctive as are the colors he used. The plate is hand painted with a superb scene in the center including buildings in the background, fishermen in a boat on the left side, a large cow in the front and more cows with a lady ehrding them towards the top all in a nice landscape surrounding. The scene is surrounded by gold trim with a thin dark red line alongs its inner edge. A really nice plate and not one you'll come across anytime soon again. This is really a superb example of his work in the typical colors and style. The plate is in great condition with a touch of wear mainly to the gilding surrounding the scene as shown. Considering the age of the piece it is in amazing condition! It is 1.25 inches tall and 8.25 inches in diameter. The pieces is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as shown as well as a blue dot mark on the foot ring and what looks to be the > symbol which is probably a Dreher's mark as shown.
