Herold Scenic Saucer

This is a nice saucer made by Meissen in about 1740. A nice early type of design with the double red trim around the large central scene. The piece is superbly hand painted with a scene likely hand apinted by Christian Friedrich Herold . One of the top early painters at the factory. The scene is in the harbor / merchant style with two figures in the center front, some barrels near them and ships, buildigns and people in the distance. Gold trim to the edge makes this a very nice loooking saucer! The saucer is in great condition with just a touch of wear. The piece is 1.125 inches tall and has a diameter of 5.25 inches. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark as well as an impressed number 63. So not super early but also not much alter than 1740.
