Polar Bear Figurine

This is a great figurine of a polar bear made by Meissen in the early 20th century. It was first modeled by Otto Jarl who did some amazing animal figures in about 1910 and this figure here is from this early period. The piece is modeled superbly and very liflike and hand painted in slight shades of off white to look very natural not just plain white. The figurine is in great condition with a small chip to the backside of that little piece of fur hanging under his chin. Some firing suport residue from when he was made but he displays perfectly and looks terrific on display! He is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark from the original early 20th century as well as a painter's mark 10 in black and an impressed T182 as shown under one of his paws. The piece is 4.125 inches tall, 3 inches wide and 8.25 inches long. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
