Chinese Butterfly Plate

This is a porcelain plate made by Meissen and even though this is the Marcolini mark I suspect it was made much earlier as this mark was occasionally used in the early 18th century as well! The colors and the paste fit that much better. It is handpainted with one of the early Kakiemon designs this being the Chinese Butterfly motif. Also some nice Kakiemon type flowers on the rim and a brown trim to the edge. This plate is in great condition with almost no wear. It does have a small chip to the footring and some manufacturing imperfections in terms of a bumpy paste some of which was ground down before painting. The plate is 1.375 inches tall and 9.375 inches in diameter. Marked underneath with the underglaze blue crossed swords as well as an impressed number 17. Also a small blue line on the footring.
