Kakiemon Warming Dome

This is something unusual - a lid like piece made by Meissen pre 1750 probably about 1735. While many people would call this a lid I think it is actually a Waermeglocke aka cloche or warming dome to keep food warm on a plate or larger dish. It does not have an underside rime edge to keep it in place on a bowl and it has a hole to the top through the rooster's tail finial to keep moisture from accumulating. The piece is superbly hand painted with a Kakiemon design, has a fun rooster as a finial with some fruit udnerneath him and a brown trim to the edge. The piece displays perfectly but the rooster has had some good work done to it. A truly fun piece and very unusual! The piece is about 5 inches tall including the finial and has a diameter of 8.5 inches. It is not marked but definitely early Meissen. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
