Floral Knife Handle

This is a porcelain handled knife made by Meissen in the mid to late 19th century. The porcelain handle is hand painted with a very nice floral arrangement as well as two single flowers to one side, three single flowers to the other side and a basketeave design to the paste on the end part. The piece is not marked but that is normal as the mark would be where the ferrule is placed if there even is a mark. The blade of the knife is all buggered up at the tip - it looks like the inside part was just regular iron which rusted/oxidized and looks rather nasty. Not sure if someone coated the iron after the fact in chrome or whatever this is or if it was a design flaw but it is what it is. Age does that to most things including us. Getting old is not all that fun. The piece is about 7.875 inches long with the visible porcelain being about 2.875 inches long. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $129
