Large Bird Scene Box

This is a really nice lidded box made by Meissen in the late 19th or early 20th century. Not only does one rarely see bird scenes on these boxes but this is also the larger version so it's an extra nice find. The piece here has a nice hand painted bird scene to the top including the bird sitting on a branch of a blueberry bush or something along those lines. Some leaves and blue berries on either side of the bird. A gold trim to the edges and three bugs along the side of the bottom. I especially like the dragon fly! A really nice piece! The box is in great condition with just some very minor age related marks to the inside lid edge but it displays perfectly! No real damage just some stains. The box is marked underneath with the under glaze blue swords mark as shown as well as the usual impressed marks. The bottom and lid together are 3.25 inches tall and 4.75 inches in diameter. Could be used for any number of things including trinkets , jewelry , candy or whatever else you can come up with. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
