Large Mirror Frame

This is a really frame made by Meissen in the mid to late 19th century. This is one of the larger sizes and comes with a mirror but I hae also seen them used for clocks, etc. This is a nice version with the attached forget me not flowers applied to the main frame part. The oval frame part is nicely modeled and hand painted. It has little oval colorful spots to it with tiny forgetmenots in between them, a pink and turquoise pointy trim to the inner edge facing the mirror and some gold trim. The sides and bottom have the applied blossoms and leaves to it and there is a pink bow on the bottom. There are two cherubs sitting on top of the frame that are holding a floral garland between them. One has a pink cloth draped over it and the other a light yellow one. It's a nice piece and in decent condition but has been damaged, one of the wings of the pink cherub is reglued and the other has the tip reglued and the forget me not flowers and leaves have damage thoughout as I am showing in the pictures. The garland has a chip or two but is in nice condition. All in all not terrible and still looks nice on displays. Would be a fun project for a good restorer! The entire piece is about 13 inches tall, 9.75 inches wide and 2.625 inches deep. The visible opening where the mirror is, is about 8.75 inches tall and 7.25 inches wide but there is about a quarter inch of extra room all around in the back for whatever you want to show off. The piece is marked to the top between the cherubs with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark (first choice). The frame has four screw holes (one screw is missing) that attach a wooden backing that is lackered in black. Used to have a kick stand but that is gone. The mirror is in good shape with a couple of smaller scratches to it. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $349
