Leipzig Scene Pipe Bowl

This is a porcelain pipe bowl made by Meissen in the 19th century. It is handpainted with a very detailed scene of the city of Leipzig including buldings, people and trees. Quite an amazing little scene! It is rare to find Meissen pipes with city scenes on it. This one is marked on the inside with the crossed swords in underglaze blue, the name of the city underneath the scene and an impressed number 33 on the little part that sticks out the front. The pipe is in superb condition with a small brown spot in the front underneath the part that sticks out - looks like the glaze didn't take there and it stained over the years. No big deal. Also a tiny bit of wear from use but like I said very minor. It was smoked quite a bit and is thus dirty on the inside. The bowl is 3.75 inches long and has a top diameter 1.125 inches.
