Marcolini Basket

This is a reticulated basket made by Meissen around 1800. It is handpainted with flowers and there is lots of relief work in the shape of roses and leaves that are painted pink and green. A superb example of the classical period when Meissen was under control of Graf Marcolini. The basket is marked on one of the legs with the blue underglaze crossed swords with the star under it as well as the number 11. On another leg there is a puce number 11 probably a painters mark. The basket is in good condition considering all the reticulation. It has one leg put back on with a metal piece inside of it but needs to be redone since it wobbles a bit and the covering to hide the metal is gone. Also one chip to the bottom rim which could easily be fixed as it is shallow and not big. The handles and the whole basket itself is in top shape which amazed me. It is 5.5 inches tall not including the handles, 10 inches wide including the handles and 7 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $699
