Mezzetin

This is a rare figurine made by Meissen in the 1740's. One of my favorite pieces ever! It is about as early a figurine that one can find made by them. The figure is of Mezzetin dancing who is one of the Commedia del Arte figurines. This figurine has everything going for it. It was painted when it was made (very important!) and not later. It has superb colors and the base is painted which is highly unusual and extremely rare. He is in great condition with some minor restorations. This piece is probably my favorite piece ever. The figure is quite heavy and about 7.75 inches tall. It is unmarked but obviously Meissen. Flat base underneath with the airhole typical of these early pieces. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
